Automatic Guided Vehicles, “AGVs,” or transportation robots, are driverless, computer-controlled material-handling vehicles. These vehicles are programmed to transport materials through designated pickup and delivery routines within a particular facility (usually a manufacturing, warehousing or distribution facility). During the transport process, AGVs transmit information concerning system status, inventory tracking and system controls to a dispatching system.
An AGV system incorporates one or more vehicle types (with mulitple drive configurations) to move material automatically, following the customer’s predefined paths, for optimum operation and throughput. Vehicle Types Overview
